Gematria is based on assigning numerical values to words or phrases in order to uncover deeper meanings behind them. In its simplest form, each letter in a word corresponds to a number and can be combined with other letters in the same word or phrase to form a sum which has additional significance. For example, in Hebrew every letter corresponds to a different numerical value - Aleph (1), Bet (2) etc. Therefore, if you were looking at a word comprised of two Alephs (אָלֶף) and one Bet (בֵּית) - the sum will be three (3).

When carrying out gematria calculations within each code, words and phrases with similar numerical values can be linked together and interpreted clearly in relation to one another. Therefore, gematria goes beyond deciphering literal translations of words but is instead used as a means for understanding spiritual truths or exploring symbolism, revealing underlying concepts and thoughts which may have been overlooked previously.
